Malacca... Where have all the Portuguese gone?

Hmmm... let me be honest with you guys... I suck in history... i hate history... so... i really don't know what I'm gonna write next....

Malacca... a Histrionic City... once ruled by Portuguese... (is it?)
Suppose to have all different kinds of western food or rather some western fusion food right? what the heck with all the Nyonya Nyonya food... can't you guys have some creativity... & not just Nyonya food & Penang Fried Kueh Teow? lately i aslo found out that there's not even 1 Italian restaurant around here.... oh? Portuguese & Italian not ngam 1 mer? how come there's isn't any here? ok... They JUST put up a sign in front of Renaissance Hotel, Malacca. Italian restaurant opening soon... so i guess this year's christmas... they gonna make a fortune out of it? haha
Malacca folks finally have the chance to enjoy Italians for their Christmas~ hurray~

But then it's still opening soon... for the time being... the only known proper Western Food is this?

Taro... situated in Dataran Pahlawan... from the outside... it looks a like bar... but seriously... i don't even think they got a bar in it... i wonder who thought of the name for it... Taro... this is what i found in Wikipedia...

Taro (from Tahitian or other Polynesian languages), more rarely kalo (from Hawaiian), is a tropical plant grown primarily as a vegetable food for its edible corm, and secondarily as a leaf vegetable. It is believed to be one of the earliest cultivated plants. Taro is closely related to Xanthosoma and Caladium, plants commonly grown as ornamentals, and like them it is sometimes loosely called elephant ear. In its raw form the plant is toxic due to the presence of calcium oxalate, although the toxin is destroyed by cooking or can be removed by keeping Taro roots in cold water overnight.

It's Toxic har? cool~

People tend to use all this kind of rare vegetable or spices used in french cuisine for restaurant name... does it really make it sound so attractive?
yeah... like most of the rare vegetable restaurant... Taro restaurant... most of the food inside are using Taro as 1 of their ingredient.. so they are restricted from serving foods other than western food.. like Japanese? Taro Sushi... ooo.... if it's raw... & the chef forgot to soak it in cold water... somebody gonna get poisoned~ heh

ok la... the setting of the restaurant is not bad after the all... with the right lighting.. simple & elegant settings... & weird dressed waitress.... this could be 1 of the best place to dine in with your love ones during special occasion... they have all these small LCD screen hung all around the place... even at the entrance & it's showing the menu.. so people won't need to flip through the pages & have a glimpse of what is the restaurant is offering? they would have to wait for the screen to turn slowly 1 by 1.. if they missed the specialty of it... they would have to stand there & wait for the slide to rotate back~ ooo... what convenience~

Speaking of the menu... there isn't really much of a choice... only 2 soups... 2 appetizers.... a few main course... 5 deserts... 5 different brand of SPARKLING JUICE... some variety of TEA... oh hey~ i just told all the things in the menu~ speaking of using Taro in their menu.. haha~

but then im still confused of what to choose from the so limited choice... not when i saw this~

why?
this is the reason...

inspired by the movie ratatouille... i was always wondered what & how would it taste like...

well... as i also found in wikipedia... it's just 'tossed vegatable' hmmm....
so are these Ratatouille? boiled vegetable?!

for me.. i always prefer to have juicy soft meat instead of fully cooked & Chewy meat... so as always... i ordered medium... & wah la... they really made their promise... not bad~ but then... the size portion of the food is rather disappointing.. That's it for Rm48???!!! but what to do? It's FIRST GRADE AUSTRALIAN LAMB.... so who's the lamb? this came with it... Red Sparkling juice...

next up... if im not mistaken... Taro was used in the seasoning of this fish fillet...

ermm... it's good la... but then how does Taro taste like jeh?

Wild mushroom soup~ ah~ taste of wild... grrrrr.....

not to missed is what they gave as side dishes... normally u guys know lor... they give mash potato or french fries 1 mar... but then... this is Taro man.... they serve you Fried Sweet potato wedges & mashed sweet potato...

Finally... desert... THIS IS NOT GULAB JAMUN....
It's called... Chilled taro... something something... i forgot what it's called.. wtf bout calling it taro something something... it's Kuih DODOL! WTF................

Taro restaurant... Food wise.... i give it a 8/10
But then... poor selection of food & DRINKS... weird waitress outfit... 7/10 la....

PS: due to over stayed of more than 2 weeks in Malacca... I'm kinda frustrated~ haha
